Week 34

Happy Friday Team...

We did it...we made it through another week amid some successes and some challenges.  I don't know about you, but sometimes it feels like this month will never end...and other times, it feels like it's flying!  I realize the struggle is getting really real...but we can do it.  We are down to 4 weeks...and the absolute most important thing is to maintain structure.  I know this time of the year can really feel like "baby sitting"...but now is the time to really be creative and engaging with your lesson planning and instruction, yet maintain the highest expectations and structure.  Please continue to implement this, and stress it with your students.

I hope each of you have a wonderful weekend...that you treat yourself to some well deserved rest and relaxation!  I appreciate each and every one of you!

NHA Visit

On Tuesday, Mr. Nick Sheltron, the Chief Learning Officer for NHA, and Mr. Jason Pater, the Chief Financial Officer for NHA, will be visiting Laurus Academy from 9:00-10:30 am.  As such, even though we are four weeks from the end of the school year, we need to make sure all of the NHA Expectations for our school are "tight".  (Even if your class/grade is on a Field Trip this day, all of this also applies to you).  This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
  • All ceiling lights are on...no dimmed classrooms
  • Achievement Boards are current and look neat, tidy, and well decorated
  • Classrooms are clean, neat, and tidy.  Floors are debris free.
  • Hallways are clean, tidy, and debris free...all lockers are closed with nothing hanging out
  • Bathrooms are neat, tidy, and debris free...please monitor before and after bathroom breaks
  • ONLY NHA CURRICULAR TOOLS ARE BEING USED!!!!
  • Staff is PROFESSIONALLY DRESSED
  • Have a student greeter to answer the door, welcome them, and be able to share what the class is learning/doing
  • Minimize the number of students who are in the hallway
They will be spending some time with Administration and will also be touring the building and classrooms.

MSTEP

MSTEP is finished!  Thank you to each one of you for all you did to make this a successful testing season.  I am working on the Prelimiary Results Data and will present this to you in an upcoming Staff Meeting.

NWEA Testing

NWEA testing continues.  We have to have a 100% student test completion in order to be in compliance with our Charter Authorizor, Bay Mills College. Please ensure that all student testing is completed:
  • May 19 - May 22:           2nd Grade NWEA Reading

Make Ups are done with you in your classrooms.  Also, everyone remember to be mindful of the testing occurring as your students move in the hallways. They should be quiet, with no talking.

AIMSWeb End of Year Benchmarking

AIMSWeb testing is occurring throughout the school for TWO more weeks.  Please make sure to control the student noise level in the hallways so that the Intervention team can test.

Shoes: Slides, Sandals, and Crocs

We are having an influx of students wearing slides and crocs.  This is not acceptable.  Nor are students allowed to wear any type of sandals.  Please utilize your School Connect to remind parents and also tell your students that they cannot wear any type of slides, crocs, and any type of sandals.
